By: LENNOX STEWART I, too, found out out about Brevard College through my track coach, Mr. Hubert Fran cis. He incidentally discovered Brevard from Coach Connie Smith of Eastern Kentucky University who is a close friend of Coach Norman Witek. In last week’s games Green III scored a dramatic last min ute touchdown to defeat Taylor Basement I and II. Taylor I and 11 ran over Green I and II, 32- 12 and in a low scoring game. Beam I and II beat Beam III gives me a reminder of my na tive country Trinidad. The stud ents and faculty are so friend ly and encouraging that I hard ly think one can find a better group of people throughout America. Trinidad is known as the “Land of the Humming Bird.” It is from this country that calypsoes which are native songs based on the everyday life of the people and of current events that occur throughout the world. We also have the steel band which is a form of a combo, and the bimbo type of dance has been originated. Trinidad’s weather is much different from that of Brevard. It is of a tropical type whereas Brevard’s is of a sub - contin ental type. Luthica Tenunial hauled his mistress and seven other girls out to Sliding Rock, looking for a good time. And it got found. One brave girl (and one on ly) ventured the icy waters of the Davidson River, while the rest stood on the Bank and laughed at her ignorance. A meal of hot dogs, tater chips, pork & beans straight out of the can, and smores was served (well, actually, it was mostly grabbed by grubby lit tle paws), and tummies were satisfied. And then, on the way back, Miss Anderson did her good deed for the whole year. She absolutely 'murdered a copper head snake with the aid of her trusty Pontiac and a big stick. Business Club Meeting Planned The 1969 - 70 Business Club will hold its first meeting Sep tember 23, 1969, at 6:30 in the Faculty Lounge of the Adminis tration Building. The hottest weather ranges from 80-95 degrees. The events I ran in Trinidad were the 400, 800, and 1500 me ters. My best times for these events are as follows; 400 me ters - 48 seconds. 800 meters- 1:.4, and the 1500 meters-3:58 seconds. I have a lot of hope for the track team, but they are a bit dim for the cross - country. But, I am going to try my best to bring honor to Brevard College on the cross - country team. My graduation plans are to attend the University of Ten nessee to obtain a degree in Health and Physical Education. Then I want to go back to my country and serve the athletes in specialized training. My greatest ambition as a young athlete is to represent my country in one of the future. Olympics. The instructions for building the model com munity appeared quite simple. Each group was to take a clear area and erect a thriving, well- planned and successful com munity. The carrying out of these simple plans are not quite as easy as it may sound. The com munity does not necessary in herit all of the bad traits of the modern community, nor does it necessarily inherit all of the good traits. Thus, the group is to decide what it considers good for the development of the community and what forces are prevalent in today’s society that should be eliminated.
