Tuesday, September 30,1980 THE CLARION Page 5 Asheville and The Surrounding Area Movies by Yvonne Roop On a beautiful day, when your homework is finished, there are plenty of things to occupy your time within an hour’s drive of Brevard. First, there is Sliding Rock. It is only a few miles up on the Parkway. It’s a great place for recreatioryspecially on a hot day when cool water is the only an swer to the heat. Next, off highway 276 going towards Greenville, lies Ceasar’s Head. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the view of the mountains. It acquired its name because the rock is shaped similar to Ceasar’s head. Also, off highway 276, there is Pretty Place. Pretty Place is a church at Camp Greenville. It is unusual because it is outdoors and has a view that extends for miles of the North and South Carolina mountains. Pretty Place offers beauty, solitude and pleasure on a warm day. If you want to see the beautiful colors of fall. Pretty Place is the place to go. Another nearby attraction is Table Rock State Park. There are many fun things to do at Table Rock, such as camping, swim ming and hiking. There is also putt-putt, golf, food and lodging. Table Rock is a great place to hike for those of you who like the thrilling excitement of rock cUmbing and hiking. Lastly, there is Whitewater Falls^better known to Brevard students as “bust your butt falls”. It is near Cashiers, N.C. It is similar to Sliding Rock except that it is more dangerous. If Sliding Rock lacks the adventure in your blood, then Whitewater Falls is the place you’ve been looking for. Most everything mentioned is free^so get a car load of friends together and take the weekend off after a rough week of classes. i££2^'r K / iii J /VI - il SJO ^ /it fti \ 2-t, A Ashevilie Area Chamber of Commerce 151 Haywood St. Asheville.
