Page 4 The Clarion Tuesday, October 25, 1983 Soccer Team Works Toward the Nationals of Kristmann’s goals. By Dee Reis The Brevard College soccer team is working hard toward the nationals, but it isn’t easy, as the last three games proved. In the October 10 game against the Berry College freshman, the Tornados won 2-1 on a goal by J.D. Dye, assisted by Larry DeLong. DeLong also scored on an assist by Danny Kristmann. Over fall break, the soccer team traveled to Florida and lost to Florida Southern College 5-2. Both DeLong and Kristmann scored. Kristmann’s goal was assisted by Jon Carter. The team then played Rollins College and won 3-0 on a goal by Dye assisted by John Folckemer and two goals by Kristmann. Ed die Tadlock assisted in the second Brevard’s record of 11-4 ranks them 14th in the nation according to the National Junior College Athletic Association Soccer poll (NJCAA). They are predicting a finish in the top four this year. But what makes Trost and Kristmann so sure? “A lot of the guys have been there before,” they said. “We’ll be psyched for it this time.” Cro8§ Country Team Places Fourth at Malone Invitational On September 24, the Brevard Cross Country team, comprised of five freshmen and two sophomores, surprised everyone by finishing 4th in a 34-team field at the Malone Invitational.
