By Susan Rogers The Brevard College women s tennis team currently holds a record of 6-4 with only two mat ches left in the season. “Our only losses have been to four-year schools,” said coach Deana Mor row. The team won their last match, against Montreat-Anderson Col lege, 9-0. “In a competion there are six singles matches and three doubles matches, in which the teams receive one point for each match won. So nine points is the highest score a team can receive,” said Morrow. Morrow is optimistic about the team’s chances in the upcoming Region 10 Tournament at Peace College in Raleigh, N.C. She says the team members have worked very hard and that if they con tinue to play as well as they have recently, they should do well in the tournament. Freshman Kristin Iberger suf fered a foot injury and will be unable to play for the remainder of the season. According to Mor row, the loss of Iberger will “hurt in the tournament.” Iberger said, “It is unfortunate that I was hurt because I was really enjoy ing playing with the team.” Players returning next year are Mara Klein, Kristin Iberger, and Megan Johnson. In addition, Morrow has signed Lynn Simril, of High Point, N.C., to next year’s team.
