Broad St. 884-3725 Welcome All College Students 20% Off On All Eat-in Sandwiches Yearbook Staff Holds First General Meeting by Lora Sobotka The yearbook staff held its first general meeting Wednesday, September 4th at Dean Wray’s home. The turnout was higher than expected: 12 sophomores and 17 freshmen. Although working on the year book staff has its pressures, it is fun. It offers job experience, and you can attain a 1/2 hour credit. Mrs. Joyce Jackson, the year book advisor, and editors Kathy Scogin and Larry Edwards ex pressed some expectations for the upcoming year. In addition to the use of computers and word processors in typing layouts, the staff is also planning a new art work cover, more color in the yearbook itself, and a visit to the yearbook production facility. According to Mrs. Jackson, the name Pertelote came about because Brevard and Duke University used to be considered sister schools. Duke University’s yearbook is entitled The Chan ticleer, after a major character, a rooster, in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales. Chanticleer had a favorite hen named Pertelote. Thus the name of Brevard’s yearbook. The Pertelote. So if you want to earn job ex perience, get a 1/2 hour credit, and be called a chicken, join The Pertelote staff; it is lots of fun!!
