The Brevard College men’s basketball
team won their second straight Pizza Hut
Tip-Off Tournament championship with a
117-100 win over Roane State on November
BC got to the finals by defeating
Gardner-Webb jayvees 85-71. Darren
Lawler led BC with 30 points. In the cham
pionship game against Roane State,
Lawler had 20 points to lead the Tornadoes
to they victory.
Darren Lawler was named the MVP for
the tournament. Marcus Allen was also
named to the All-Tournament team.
BC is now 5-0 for the year.
The remainder of the semester’s
schedule include: Tues., Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.
at Montreat-Anderson. Thurs. Dec. 8, 7;30
p.m. Anderson at Brevard.
The spring semester opens with an away
game against the UNC-CH jayvees in
Chapel Hill on Jan. 7. The first home game
of 1989 will come on Sat., Jan. 10, at 7:30
when the Tornadoes host Blanton’s,

The Brevard College Lady Tornadoes
basketball team found Louisburg College
and Truett-McConnell College too much to
handle at home with losses of 50-108 and
59^, respectively.
The Lady Tornadoes came to play
agamst Louisburg on Nov. 20,but seemed
unable to run plays on the offensive side of
the court. Louisburg outmatched Brevard
in size and team work louisburg had six
out of its 11 players in double digits wilh
one player with 23 pomls. Brevard was led
by Tonja Barksdale with 19 points. The

The Lady Tornadoes played Truett-
McConnell a good game on Nov. 19, work
ing well together on offense as well as
defense. The Tornadoes went into the
locker-room at halftime down by 15 points
with a score of 36-21,
Brevard came out determined to play
ball in the second half. Truelt-McConnell
had three players in double digits with the
highest scorer al 17 points.
The Lady Tornadoes were led by Katie
Trexler with 15 pt.mts, Jennifer Burger
with 12 points.and Jennifer Presnell with
10 points. In the end the Lady Tornadoes
