Series features Russian Culture Week

There are many first-time things going
on in the Brevard College Choral Depart
ment this year.
The Chamber Chorale went on a retreat
to Epworth-by-the Sea on August 22-25
where they rehearsed six hours a day to
get ready for their upcoming season.
President Greer made this trip possible
and made arrangements for the Chamber
Chorale to go on this event. They will be
performing in churches in the area and
state. The Chamt>er Chorale is an highly
auditioned group with 15 people who sing a
cappella music.
Another first will be madrigal dinners at
Christmas in the cafeteria on November
30, December 1, and 2. Tickets will go on
sale in early Novemt>er at student rates.
Another group on campus is The Col
legiate Singers with a strong energetic
group of 75 singers. They will be perform
ing Novemt)er 20 at First United Methodist
Church in Brevard and December 3 at
Givens Estate in Asheville. Both prefor-
mances will feature selections from
Vivaldi’s Gloria. They will be touring this
spring as well.
Another first is a $50 scholarship for the
section leaders. Show Choir will have audi
tions in November. This spring the Vocal
Workshop class will be presenting “Trial
by Jury," Gilbert and Sullivan's comic
operetta.

ture and entertainment series. Most
events are free and held in Dunham
Auditorium on the campus of Brevard Col
lege. The public is invited.
