BC basketbaU is back and it is going to be HOT. The men’s and women’s basketball
teams are set for another exciting season. Both teams’ first regular season games are on
Nov. 10. The men begin their seasorkin Atlanta with the Atlanta Classic and the ladies start
theirs at Denmark Tech in Denmark^ S.C.
The men had a very successful year last year, with a 20-11 record. Last year s perfor
mance gives Coach Doug Rogers good reason to be optimistic. “I feel real good about this
season.” Rogers said. “We have five starters returning, wheich should give us enough
leadership and we also have a very good young group of freshman. Overall, this year s
team is very talented.”
The guys will face some tougher competition this year than in past years. We play in
the toughest junior college conference in the United States, said Rogers. The competi
tion will be much greater, wljich means that the team will have to work even harder to do
well.”
The team does have a lot of potential, but one of the keys to the season is how quickly
they will come together as a team. “With a lot of hard work and leaders ip, we can o
well,” said Rogers. , u n
What can the fans look forward to this season? “Look for us to run the ball up and dow
the court, we will have an exciting team this year,” said Rogers.

The women’s team is also looking forward to a great siasOr. The team has five
sophomores returning and nine freshmen joining the club. All 14 players will have basical
ly equal playing time this year as Coach Tom Radford plans to platoon the players.
“We have a very exciting team,” said Radford, “All 14 players are verjj good. All of
them have strengths and'whatoye want to do is to cover up their weaknesses.”
Like the men, the women fiave an extremely tough schedule. “We have four scrimages
against four-year schools and during the regular season, we play some nationally-ranked
schools,” said Radford.
According to Coach Radford, the fans can expect some very exciting and aggressive
basketball. “We will be running, pressing, and pushing the ball up the court — in other
words, a very fast-paced game.” Radford also added that, “we have three key words in
our practices. Anticipate, Attack, Dictate. We must anticipate on defense and react to it,
attack on both offense and defense, and dictate to the other team what they can do.”
