Over the last three weeks we have been more than busy. After we arrived, we were informed that classes start right away. We began German lessons the next morning. We haven’t slowed down since then. In ad dition to German, we have History, Ethics, and Life and Culture, all of which keep us busy from seven to four everyday. We all thought that Brevard was tough! Every week we go on a hike, or we go to visit the many sights around Austria. A week ago Sunday we hiked up a mountain call Sonnstein. The people in the villages go there on cloudy days because at the top of Sonnstein the sun is always shining. We began the hike at 1:45 p.m. One hour and 45 minutes later we arrived at the top. It was a spectacular view of the area in which we live. We could see for miles all around. We stayed for an hour and then began our trip down. This took us one hour and 30 minutes. One of us had a pedometer, and we figured out that we had gone: 6.4 miles. You can imagine how good we felt. We have also been to Salzburg. Last Saturday we went with our History teacher, Konrad, and our journal teacher Briggite. We walked through the city and up to a fortress on the other side. This enabled us to get wonderful pictures of Salzburg. The highlight of our day was the fact that we got to eat at McDonald’s! None of us ever thought that those fries and Big Macs would be so terribly missed. It proved to us that there are things in America we should not take for granted. Well, that’s all for now. There's more to come next week. Auf Wiedersehen Good-bye! Jenny Walaitis
