Tornadoes looking
to improve record
by Jake Dalton
Clarion Reporter
The week of January 30 through
February 3 proved to be a headache for
the BC Tornadoes Men's Basketball
team. Brevard put their 8-5 record on
the line as they traveled to Anderson,
Louisburg, and Chowan.
The first trip was to Anderson on
Jan. 30. Brevard's shooting was
miserable. Harvey Cozart had 20 points
and Wayne Frechette had 15 to lead the
scoring for Brevard. Jamie Cousin
noted: "No one shot well. We had
chances at the end, but we couldn't get
our shots to fall.' Marcus Allen added,
"The defensive zone threw us off balan
ce." BC lost in a low scoring battle,
61-52.
Brevard then traveled to Louisburg
on Feb. 2 with intentions of playing
better basketball. The Tornadoes had a
better shooting night but couldn't
perform at crucial times. Cousin
recalled, "The team played well, but we
didn;t execute in areas. We played real
hard but didn't get the breaks."
The leading scorers for the
Tornadoes were Nathan Fearrington with
15 points and Cousin with 10 in a
losing effort as Louisburg pulled it out
at the end to win 68-64.
The final leg of the weekend road
trip ended with Chowan on Feb 3.
Chowan was ranked as one of the top
teams in the region, but Brevard hoped
to change that

spot-up for the three-pointers." The
high scorers for BC were Fearrington
with 18 points. Cousin with 17 and
Cleon Dickerson with 14. But that
wasn't enough as BC lost another close
game, 78-71.
Although the Tornadoes had a rough
week of road trips they aren't
discouraged. Feamngton noted, "With a
few breaks our way we could've won
these three games. We know we have
to start playing up to our potential. If
we do, we could go a long way on the
regional toumamenL" Brevard is now 8-
8 overall, but plans to improve this
record considerably over the next few
weeks and months.
