Collegiate
Singers plan
Spring Tour
to Georgia

The 62 members of the Brevard
College Singers, including the Show
Choir, will be on tour March 23-25 in
Georgia.
After leaving Friday, March 23, the
Singers will travel to Gainesville, Ga.,
where they will perform at Brenau
College. On Saturday, March 24, the
Show Choir will perform at Six Flags
over Georgia.
The following day, March 25, will
be very busy. The Singers begin by
performing at Perimeter Church in
Marietta, Ga., then have an afternoon
concert at St. Timothy United
Methodist Church in Stone Mountain,
Ga., and Tinally give an evening concert
at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in
Decatur, Ga
Some of the selections being
prepared for the spring tour include:
"Sweet Canaan,” "Come, Thou Holy
Spirit," "With a Voice of Singing," and
"Four Choruses from the Lamentations
of Jeremiah."
Director Mark Nabholz is also
preparing the Collegiate Singers and the
Show Choir for the annual Spring Con
cert, scheduled for April 3 in Dunham.
Also, the Vocal Workshop class
will present the comic opera, "Trial by
Jury," in Dunham on April 26.

Spring Break include, left to

concerts are free and are held in
Dunham Auditorium at 8:15
p.m.
Three BC teachers give faculty recitals

Three Brevard College music
instructors have Faculty Recitals
scheduled for the two weeks before
Spring Break.
All concerts will be presented at
8:15 p.m. in Dunham Auditorium.
There is no admission charge. In
chronological order, the concerts are;
Tuesday, Feb. 27 - Diane Daniel,
percussion.
Sunday, March 4 — Nancy
Bondurant, bassoon.
Tuesday, March 6 - Karen Hill,
clarinet
Diane Daniel, instructor of
percussion at Brevard College, will
perform a marimba recital Tuesday, Feb.
27, at 8:15 p.m.
A native of Oklahoma, Daniel is an
active performer, clinician and
adjudicator. A member of the Brevard
College music faculty since 1988, she

Collegiate Singers, who will be on

teaches applied percussion, percussion
ensemble, methods for prospective
teachers and serves as the music
librarian for the College's listening
center. Under her direction the Brevard
College Percussion Ensemble has been
repeatedly invited to perform at such
festivals as the North Carolina
Percussive Arts Society Festival.
Daniel earned her bachelor's degree
in music education from Southwestern
Oklahoma State University and her
master's degree in music from the
University of North Carolina at
Greensbwo.
Accompanying Daniel during her
recital will be Steven Kelly,
euphonium, and Stephanie Brunelli,
piano.
Kelly is in his sixth year as
assistant professor of music at Brevard
College. He serves as director of bands
and chairman of the Division of Fine
Arts. He earned his bachelor's and
master's degrees in music education
from the University of North Carolina
at Greensboro and is currently earning
his doctoral degree from the University
of Kansas.
Pianist Stephanie Brunelli is in her
second year on the Brevard College
music faculty. Before coming to
Brevard, she taught at Valley City State
University in North Dakota and Aims
Community College in Colorado.
Brunelli holds degrees in music from
Wells College and the University of
Illinois at Urbana.
The Feb. 27 program will include
Etudes for marimba by Smadbeck,
Selections from the Album for the
Young by Tchaikovsky, October Night
by Burritt, Introduzione e Fughetta by
Frigges, Fantasy on Japanese
Woodprints by Hovhaness, and several
ragtime pieces.
Clarinetist Karen Hill will present a
faculty recital on Tuesday, March 6, at
8:15 p.m. in Dunham Auditorium on
the campus of Brevard College.
She will be accompanied by
Stephanie Brunelli and later joined by
her husband, Harry Hill, also a
clarinetist.
The program will encompass
classical, romantic and twentieth century
music. Ms. Hill received her bachelor of
music in clarinet from Northwestern
University and her master in music in
clarinet performance from the University
of Michigan. She has served on the
faculties of Limestone College and the
University of South Carolina in Union
County.
She has also performed with the
North Carolina Symphony Orchestra,
the Chicago Opera Repertory Theatre
Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony
Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony
Orchestra and the Asheville Symphony
Orchestra. Ms. Hill currently teaches
clarinet and directs woodwind ensembles
at Brevard College.
Nancy Bondurant, bassoon and
woodwind ensemble instructor at
Brevard College, will perform on
Sunday, March 4, at 8:15 p.m. She is
also among the artists selected to
perform a classical recital concert in the
prestigious 1990 European International
Festival in Geneva, Switzerland.
This announcement came from
Concerts Atlantique, a non-profit
organization in New Yoilc City dedicated
to greater international communication
and understanding through the
performing arts. They also maintain
offices in Geneva and Tokyo.
Bondurant is a graduate of the North
Carolina School of Arts (High School
Division), and Temple University where
she received her bachelor's degree in
music. Her teachers have included Mark
Popkin of the N.C. School of the Arts,
Kay Brightman of the Pasedena
Symphony, and the world famous
basoonist Bernard Garfield of the
Philadelphia Orchestra.
