Cheerleaders named by Alejandro Hernandez Clarion Reporter After a demanding selection process, Brevard College's 1990-91 cheerleaders and stuntmen have been announced. Captain Dino Locklear, who led his sophomore squad through a prize- winning summer session at East Ten nessee State University, returned to campus to lead this year’s group. The cheerleaders and stuntmen for 1990-91 are: Kelly Ferguson, Betsy Nalven, Jennifer Renna, Tes Wilkes, Christopher David, Chris Foster, David Hamon, Bembry Morgan, Kristen Shot- well and Mitzi Troutman., with alter nates Kitty Blanton, Leslie Johnson and Kimberly Hampton. (Clarion photos by Jock Lauterer) Lady Tornadoes win tournament by John Wellenhofer Clarion Sports Editor BC's long-awaited Lady Tornadoes' soccer team has made its fall 1990 debut in style - winning the BC Fall Classic this weekend with victories over Anderson (1-0), Maramec (2-1) and Anindel (2-0). Under third year soccer coach Joe Bartlinski, the Lady T's boast 11 returning sophomore starters and a strong freshman crop. BC women’s Soccer was ranked as high as fourth in the nation last year. This year they hope to better that. The secret of their success last year was team unity and a lot of pride claims Coach Bart. "We are a family on and off the field," says Bart. That same "family" went undefeated for their first eleven games and outscored their opponents by more than they would care to admit. The upcoming fall season for the Lady Ts looks promising yet far from easy. BC will have to face stiff competition from Region X spoilers Anderson, Spartanburg Methodist and Lees McRae.
