Page 12 October 1, 1990 The Clarion Brevard men lose two on the road by Scott Grubbs Clarion Reporter The BC men's soccer team faced Lees-McRae at Banner Elk Saturday Sept. 22. They lost to the Bobcats 7-1 in this region X game. The Tornadoes have been plagued with nagging injuries and Lees-McRae exploited this by taking it right to the Tornadoes. But the Tornadoes never gave up. Sophomore Mike McAvoy scored to make it 4-1 at the half. Five minutes into the second half, the Tornadoes scored again but the referee called it back. That broke the Tornadoes momentum; and Lees-McRae scored three more goals to make it 7-1. The BC men's soccer team also lost to Region X rival Anderson 2-1 in an away game last week. This was an extremely physical game. The game was scoreless in the first half but at the 42.15 mark of the second half Bobby Sauer scored to give the Tornadoes a 1- 10 lead. Anderson came back and scored 4 straight goals to go up 4 to 1. The Tornadoes ended the scoring when Michel Louter received a pass from Mike McAvoy to make the final 4 - 2. m Tornado Michel Louter socks the ball against Allegheny.
