SPIKING IT DOWN!! At a recent practice, a few of the Brevard women’s volleyball
team showed they were a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming season. This
marks the first year of volleyball being an official sport at Brevard.
Vollevball is here!

This year marks the inaugural
season for women’s volleyball at
Brevard College. It has been a long
process for the school, the athletic
program, and the athletes on finally
getting this first year team organized.
The frustration is over, and the season
is off to a great start. The team has
already clinched their first victory over
Belmont Abbey.
The head coach for the Lady
Tornados is no stranger to Brevard
College. Tadd Connor is not only an
alumnus of Brevard, but he is also the
women’s head basketball coach. When
asked about his new role as a volleyball
coach, Connor had this to say. “I feel
that this is an opportunity of a lifetime.
I have felt a renewed enthusiasm for
coaching by learning a new sport,”
Connors said.
Connor and the team could not be
happier with their assistant coach, Dr.
Tom Tait, who came to Brevard from
Penn State University with a long list
of accomplishments in volleyball.
Working with Dr. Tait has had a
profound effect on Coach Connor.
Connor said, “Dr. Tait has made this
transition possible for me. He has
provided opportunities for learning at
every turn. I could not ask for a better
mentor. He has made coaching
volleyball a thrill.”
The Lady Tornados’ volleyball
team consists of three sophomores and
five freshmen. This small team is very
dedicated and is working hard to post a
good record for the school in this, their
first season ever. The team is very
anxious to have the support of the
school by having students and faculty
attend the remaining four home games.
The team is very dedicated and
wants to succeed in putting Brevard
College on the map for women’s
volleyball. The girls are using their
talent to achieve this goal. Coach
Connor said, “ The team is working
hard and improving everyday. The
ladies have a wonderful opportunity to
build a ■ foundation for volleyball
excellence at Brevard. I have been
pleasantly surprised by the level these
ladies are competing.”
