My fellow students, this reporter must stress that Banff is not some “dinky” little slideshow. The Banff Mountain World Tour is a premiere festival of world-renowned outdoor adventure films. It is a discovery that all in Brevard will not want to miss out on. Mary-Beth Koelle Passed by the Porter Center Black Box Theatre lately? Heard a bunch of singing and dancing going on? Wondered what all the activity was? Well, psst....this reporter has the answer: Brevard students and members of the local community are busy producing the musical 110 in the Shade. Premiering April 21, 22, 23, the play is directed Dr. Bob White. Working diligently with Bob and the cast are Assistant Director Jennifer Bobbitt and student Choreogra pher Victoria Zgura, and Pianist Curtis Gardin. The plot of 770 in the Shade tells the story of a traveling con man (Bob Lahmann) who contends he can make it rain. While attempting to conjur up the much-need wet stuff, Lahmann also woos Lizzy (Angela Hayes) who happens to be engaged to the town’s sheriff. When the con man finally leaves town, Lizzy realizes that all of the scoundrel’s glamour and glitz are not qualities she can love. This reporter was fortunate enough to sit in on one music rehearsal where the cast belted out some of the show’s tunes. Evident was the out standingly talent of this 110 in the Shade cast which includes Angela Hayes, Bob Lahmann, Alex Helms, Justin Register, Eric Hinson, Sandra Carr, Joshua Sellers, Hakan D’Onofrio, Jessica Morrison, Wes Vanasek, Faith Beddow, Carrie Campbell, Christin Raxter, Todd Sunderland, Amanda Gardin, Phillip Crew, Amanda Jacobs, Chijinke Chinaka, Katie Smith, Beth Miller, Laurel Hill, Pamela Embry, and Victoria Zgura.
