He has enjoyed the sport since the young age of five, and really enjoys the Baseball program here. But the real reason why he came to BC is for his love of the mountains and environmental studies. Matt frequents the Blue Ridge Parkway and hikes as often as he can. He shared his love of the autumn season, with its cool nights and warm afternoons, and like so many of the people that come to these mountains, the changing leaf colors is an inspiration to Matt. The West Beam is where he rests his head, but like most college students he looks forward to being independent and living on his own some day. To get by in Brevard, Matt catches flicks at the local Falls Theater, and plays his guitar with folks at the Celestial Mountain Music shop downtown. You can catch up with Matt sometime at The Essence of Thyme coffee house particularly during their evening music shows. Just like other kids, she went to summer camps. One of which was Camp lllahee here in Brevard North Carolina. Sh( fell in love with the mountains, and they became an importan part of her life. When the time came to choose a college, the aspiring art major took a drive into the mountains and ended up on the Brevard College campus. One drive through campus and she knew immediately that this was her school. As an art major, she has been helped along by her teachf Joe Pumphrey and Molly Doctrow where she has found kins! with both. Her medium of choice has been still life paintings, and this is where she has incorporated her love of nature. SI takes photos of her subject matter, leaves and flowers, and then blows up the image, exaggerating its form, until she cat see right into the small details of the plants in a style similar t her favorite painter, Georgio O’keefe.
