He favorite color is green and this can be seen in many of her colorful paintings. One of her favorite places to go for this inspiration is the Panthertown Valley in Toxaway, N.C. She enjoys playing and relaxing around the rivers and creeks thei with her two year old black Labrador retriever, Buck. She frequents the Jordan Street Cafe with her boyfriend Warner where they enjoy Sushi rolls and the company of friends. They also grow a garden together in the summer time. She likes living in Brevard and feels there is a good community here. She volunteers at the art co-op downtown and has learned how to frame her paintings from the people the Gallery on Main. Some other inspiration to her life came this summer when she attended classes at the Penland School of Arts in the BIl Ridge Mountains. She was inspired by a teacher Arlen Burk Morgan, and grew from the experience. Her freedom at Penland helped to further along her educational process in tf arts. She says it was a great experience. After Brevard College she wants to go on to graduate schc and get her Masters in Fine Arts. Her future goals are to kee| painting, and try some ceramics to keep her art fresh. Brevard College Companions by Jeff Moose, staff writer Since becoming a student at Brevard College in 2001,1 have seen dogs chasing Frisbees and running after squirrels. I have heard others barking at birds in the trees. I’ve caught snippets of conversations about one student’s cat, or another’s ferret. Occasionally, a word or two has reached my ears about someone’s pet snake (which always causes an involuntary shudder to run through me, I might add!), or about a bird that has learned to speak a word that I cannot repeat here. It has always amazed me, the bond between members of our own species and some of those of the animal kingdom. Having owned many types of pets over the years, I know first-hand of the responsibility and aggravation that owning a pet can bring to one s life. But along with that comes a real camaraderie - a friendship - and a source of joy and laughter that can New Brevard Ambassadors by Jennie Howell, staff writer The new and improved Student Ambassadors program, tt Presidential Circle is up and running in 2003. Some roles that Circle members partake in are to promot Brevard College to potential students and families in the best light possible, to lead prospective students and families on campus tours, and to assist the Admissions Office in recruitment events like Open Campus Days, Orientation, anc Parent’s Weekend. They also support athletic events, concerts, debates, socials and anything else on campus dealing with the student body. But above all they act as student leaders on campus.
