Scabies infest Jones Hall residents
By Celeste Sugg
Staff Writer
Christmas break is usually a
time when students can go home
and relax after exams, but for a few
living in Jones Residence Hall they
took home more than they had
l^rgained for.
A resident of Jones Hall went to
the doctor over Christmas break and
found out she had contracted
•cables. Once the Resident Advisor
fBceived word of this infection,
^unpus Life called several students’
h^mes over the break to advise them
ftat they too might have contracted
the disease and ask that they go to the
doctor.
According to Vrindy Deslisle, the
Resident Director of Jones, it appears
that only a handful of girls actually
contracted the rash. The college took
steps to eradicate the problem which
included a thorough cleaning of the
infected areas. College officials also
sent letters to the girls of Jones
instructing them on how to rid them
selves of potential infestations. This
was to ensure that scabies would not
spread any further and the students
would be healthy and safe when they
returned from the holidays.

School allows bonfires,
but with new limits
By Adam Beeson
Managing Editor
The ongoing feud about the use of the bonfire
pits on campus should no longer be a controversy,
according to Susan Yowell, Brevard College Dean
of Student Affairs.
After a year-long ban on the fire pits, students
are now able to register with Campus Life for
permission to host a supervised bonfire event.
These events must be under certain conditions,
including the use of only firewood for the flame
source, the presence of a fire extinguisher available
at all times, and a faculty member or resident
