Letter to the
Editor
1 find myself shocked and dis
mayed to hear that the Column “Ask
Tex” will continue to befoul our
campus newspaper. To those of us
who look to media outlets for important
news about our world, our nation, our
community and our college this column
causes us to wonder why?
Why must this paper degrade the
intelligence of this campus with such a
demeaning and unnecessary piece? I
have viewed issues from the past years
of The Clarion and find Tex’s re
sponses to such things as the size of
his truck and the opposite sex, to be an
insult to everyone who has come to
this College for an education.
If I wanted to read the stereotypi
cal pandering to the lowest common
denominator drivel, then I would buy a
tabloid paper where 1 would know that
the views expressed were at least false.
Headlines along the vein of Elvis’s
lovechild with an Alien are easier to
relate to than the constant stream
chauvinistic nonsense that you seem
to deem worthy for this paper.
I have to ask, does this paper wish
to be a reputable media source for this
institution or does it wish to be
portrayed as a high school publication
that someone has produced in their
basement for the entertainment of their
friends?
We must come up with other ways
to bring in readers to The Clarion',
keeping “Ask Tex” in order to do this
will not only hurt the reputation of our
college but will show a lack of intelli
gence and taste within what should be
the “Academic Elite” of this institution.
