Howdy Tex,
I know that in the past publication of The
Clarion (Sept. 9,2005), there was a column
bashing your “ask tex” column. They said that
you are j ust “degrading the intelligence of this
campus”. So, while I am not arguing with them
on that matter, 1 would however like to ask you
something. Why, for someone that gets to have
a column in our campus newspaper, someone
who is getting a college education, ride around
with Bush 2004 stickers stuck to the back end
of their truck? Tex, to make your column as useful as possible, why did you vote for
the man? Is it a Texas thing? Or is it because you truthfully are intelligent, or
maybe, is it the lack there of?
— Peter Caye
Dear Peter,
The ideas of the author who wrote, the editorial you are referring to are his own
entirely. But since you thought enough of this column to submit a question, 1 will
take the time to answer you. Yes I voted for Mr. Bush, I am proud to say that 1 am
just one of the many Americans who helped him stay in office for a second term. The
fact that you would insinuate that educated people couldn't or wouldn ’( support
the president is obsured and has absolutely nothing to do with my column. The
“Ask Tex” column is for people who want advice on an issue. 1 take great pride in
this column and any social value that it may have. My advice to you is simple, learn
tolerance. Thank you for taking the time to write
Hey Tex,
What did you think about the letter to the editor in the last issue of the
Clarion?
— Ben Whittle
Ben,
The first amendment protects everyone’s freedom to speak his or her mmd.
Sadly enough, that includes those who are who are challenged. Havmg a thesaurus
handy can make anybody sound intelligent.
