FKrystal Wetstnedge is a
senior English Major with an
emphasis in Creative Writing.
A native of Corapeake, NC, a
coastal town on the North
Carolina, Virginia border, she
will be graduating in December,
a full semester early. Krystal is
21 years old and has been in
Brevard for the past 3 years.
Why Brevard College?
1 went to high school with
a girl who was going to play
softball here. I was interested,
so 1 called the coach and set
up a meeting. Right away I
knew 1 wanted to be here,
everybody was really nice.
What do you like most
about Brevard College?
The English faculty. They

Senior Krystal Westnedge
are very well educated in a
variety of fields. They also
give excellent feedback and are
always available to help you
out.
What’s next for you?
I would like to go and get
my Master’s in English and
maybe get a job at a publish
ing house.
What do you like to do in
your spare time?
I like to hike and workout,
but 1 also like to collect rocks
from the waterfalls that 1 go to
with my boyfriend.
Any advice for under
classmen?
They should remember
that college is a time for
personal exploration and
growth. Be as outgoing as you
can and try not to live with
any regrets. This is probably
the only time in your life when
you will have the kind of time
to go out and do things with
your friends. Another thing
that’s very important is time
management. Keeping up with
your work and not getting
behind is crucial to your
success in college.
If you could remove any
letter from the alphabet, which
one would it be and why?
1 guess 1 would take out
the letter “Q.” We don’t use it
a lot, it’s kind of like the last
kid picked in dodge ball; it is
just out there.
Over the course of our
interview, Krystal told me
about a few of her experiences
at Brevard College, like the first
time she saw a white squirrel
on campus. “It was sad
because I thought somebody
had spray-painted it as a joke.’
Krystal will be leaving us for
bigger and better things, and
we wish her the best of luck.
‘Saw 2’: blood, gore trump talent

Saw 2
Directed by Darren L. Bousman
(Lions Gate, 2005)
★ ★ ★
Who says sequels aren’t as
good as the original? For fans of
grotesque and sadistic murder
flicks. Saw 2 is for you.
Following in the footsteps
of the original, the infamous Jig
saw (Tobin Bell) is finally hunted
down by detective Eric
Matthews (Donnie Walberg).
It s odd though; the man who is
able to incapacitate grown men
and drag them to remote places,
only to die a horrific death, is
actually a feeble cancer patient
on his death bed.
The plot line is not bad. It
favors the suspense filled twist-
turn plot of the first, only this
time Jigsaw has eight people
locked inside an old decrepit
house instead of just two. De
tective Mathews is shocked to
find out that one of the eight is
his troubled teenage son Danny
(Erik Knudsen).
The people are being
watched like lab rats as they fran
tically try and escape. True to
the Jigsaws style, he leaves a
recorded message telling them
that the house is slowly filling
with a deadly nerve agent. They
must work together to find the
hidden antidotes placed con
spicuously around the house.
Beverly Mitchell (7'* Heaven)
plays one of the unlucky people
caught in Jigsaw’s trap.
1 found that the shock value
of this film made up for the lack
of talent on the set. There were
times where 1 would cringe in
sympathy for the people, and
there were times where 1 couldn’t
even watch. One of the things
that bothered me about this film
was that you never see the gas
being pumped into the house, all
you see is people coughing up
blood and getting dizzy. 1 think
the producers could’ve done
better than that, given the extent
Jigsaw^ems lo nave a lot o
free time on his hands. He care
fully plans and executes these
meticulous kidnappings which
turn into a life lesson for those
unfortunate enough to draw his
attention. The character Jigsaw
reminds me of a family counse
lor in a way, he tries to show
Matthews that he should appre
ciate his son. Although his meth
ods are questionable, they seem
to be highly effective.
All in all, 1 would say that
PtMjto from inrKJb.com by Sieve Wiikt*
this film is worth going to see.
And like I said, the blood and
gore will take your attention
away from the actors’ lack of tal
ent, This film is definitely worth
a few bucks and a trip to the the
ater.
