Page 12 SPORTS The Clarion — April 14,2006 Men’s tennis stretch streak to four straight The Brevard College men continued their mid season suc cess on April 1 and 2 by posting wins over King College 6-3 and UVA-Wise 6-3. The Tornadoes have won 5 of 6 are now 6-8 and 3-0 in the AAC. Brevard is sitting atop the conference in a first place tie with Union and Virginia Intermont. Head coach Paul Thomson said, “We had a great week of tennis. We got stronger as the week went on and everybody contrib uted to our success.” On April 1 the men swept the 3 doubles points from King and took 3 of 6 singles matches. Sunday afternoon the men took 2 of 3 double from Wise and won 4 of six singles matches. “I really felt like we had our opportuni ties to sweep the single today. The tournament was held at BC’s home course located at Connestee Falls Golf Brevard’s “A” team fin ished three-rounds with 879, the lowest score in team history. North Greenville finished as run ner-up with a score of 906. Earning a spot on the All Tournament team were Lees McRae senior and medalist Dion Sirianni (215); Brevard College junior Austin Ornelas (218); North Greenville junior Bo Ream (218); Union senior Eric Wyrick (221) and Brevard College fresh man Michael Burnett.
