You’re in college: do something
by Adam Beeson
Managing Editor
It’s funny how life works out
sometimes. Just when you think
you have everything under con
trol, everything completed and
ready to turn in, something
comes at you from out of no
where and wham!, you start all
over again.
This has been the life of The
Clarion for the past few weeks.
Our last issue was released on
March 1. We apologize. It’s not
that we didn’t want to release the
issue or even that we didn’t try
to release it, but like all of you,
our little staff has a life. And like
all of you, it’s been fairly busy
as of late.
But the other night we had
this issue completed. We had our
lead story about Preston Woo
druff, our band feature, movie
review, security report, the
whole package. And then, in
place of what you’re reading
now, we had a piece about apa
thy because we all know that
students on this campus don’t
care about anything...or do
they?
We’ve all seen it by now.
That 8x14 sheet of paper titled
“Who Pays the Bill?” Copies
were practically scattered all
over campus Wednesday morn
ing, and it was hard to find some
one who hadn’t read the “Cre
ative Grier Consulting” release.
But let’s think about this
piece.
Now that it's a modified let
ter to the editor (see page 5), we
will look past any logical falla
cies or lack of attribution in the
author's claims, and we'll even
forget about the “One student,
a sweet girl” comment.
This guy had an idea. He
wanted his voice to be heard.
And frankly, that’s more than
most students on this campus
can say about themselves.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but
aren’t we in college now? Aren’t
we supposed to stand for some
thing? Shouldn’t we be sticking
it to the man? Throwing protest
marches? Organizing walk outs?
Attending week-long concerts
where we experiment with psy
chedelic drugs to promote world
love and peace on Earth?
If you have an opinion, ex
press it. You don’t like the foot
ball team? Show it in a way that
the administration will hear you.
You’re upset because one of the
most established and respected
teacher on the campus is leav
ing? Go rally in the quad and let
it be known.
You’re in college now, boys
and girls: do something.

Presidential Posts:
Student feedback needed
for improvements
by Aaron Motley
Special to The Clarion
My name is Aaron Motley,
and I am your newly elected SGA
President. I would like to thank
all of you who voted for me and
let you know I am very excited
about being your new president
for the 06-07 year.
Occasionally, I will have a
column in The Clarion that will
address issues that relate to
you, the student body. I would
like for you to respond to these
articles by sending me an e-mail
or talking to me in person. This
is a very important aspect of why
I am going to be writing these
columns. Please feel free to talk
to me about any issue that is on
your mind, even if I haven't ad
dressed it in the newspaper. I
want to know what you, the stu
dent body, are concerned about
and what opinions you have re
garding BC.
1 would like to first inform
you that next year the campus
will most likely be getting a
closed circuit television channel
On the Record...
to show movies. However, I be
lieve that this channel can do a
lot more for BC than just show
movies. I would like to know if
students would be interested in
starting a news team that had
some air time throughout the
week to do whatever they see
fit? The channel can show stu
dent music and art as well. This
network has endless possibili
ties, and I want to know your
thoughts and ideas about the
closed circuit television channel.
Secondly, I have a chal
lenge to the student body: come
to SGA and be involved in what
is happening at the school. All
the decisions that are made at
SGA affect you. 1 feel that you
as a student may not like some
of the decisions being made at
SGA however, if your voice is
heard, then change can be made
here at BC.
So now take time and think
about what you would like to see
change at BC and let me and
your SGA class representative
know what’s on you mind.
Peace.

Suddenly, she’s a mom.”
