The 5K will begin at the Brevard College Bell Tower at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, and ruimers will complete a course that winds through the BC campus. Other adults, with the proceeds from the event going to fund a school-sponsored mission trip to Cambodia. The trip will be part of a new course that BC is offering in the spring, REL 254, “Global Experiences in Mission.” According to BC Chaplain Shelley Webb, who will teach the course, the 12 members of the class will be building toilets in rural areas to help improve the nation’s poor water sanitation. The trip will run from March 17-31, 2008, and Webb is working with The United Methodist Church General Board of Global Ministries as Volunteers in Mission to coordinate the trip, but there is still a great deal of fundraising to do before then. “We are very excited about the first annual BC Homecoming 5K run,” Webb said. “Those who may be interested (in the mission trip) are free to come and talk to me and get an application.” What's Inside?
