Coming off of a 40-14 loss to
Lenoir-Rhyne University, the
Brevard Tornados football team
prepares to face #18 Wingate
University this Saturday night.
Last weekend, Lenoir-Rhyne was
able rush for 222 yards and control
the clock effectively against B.C.
The time of possession was a major
factor in the game according to
Head Coach Paul Hamilton.
“Anytime you got the ball for
41 minutes, that’s almost unheard
of... that’s unique,” said Coach
Hamilton.
“That’s what you want to do
keep the other team’s offense
Junior quarterback Ky e Hamilton
went 8-16 on the day, good for 121
yards and two touchdown passes.
Freshman wide receiver
Hasan Carriel caught 3
passes for 83 yards and
2 touchdowns.
Looking forward
to this weekend, the
Bulldogs of Wingate
are sporting a 5-0
record and a potent
offense averaging 407
yards and 28 points
per game. Quarterback
J.D. Moore has thrown
for 999 yards on the season with
10 touchdowns through the air
on the young season. Showing
a balanced offense, the Bulldogs
also feature running back Nelson
Woods. Woods has rushed for 596
yards on the season.
Despite showing an impressive
offense so far on the season there
are vulnerabilities with Wingate.
The Bulldog defense has given up
an average of 325 yards per game
so far on this season.
The game against Wingate kicks
off at 6 p.m at Brevard Memorial
Field. Shuttle busses leave from
locations both on campus and
around the town at 4 p.m. and the
