Tornados clawed by Eagles on Homecoming

After dropping their homecoming
contest, the Brevard College
football team hits the road for
a final time this weekend. The
Tornados will be travelling to
Catawba College to take on the
Indians this Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Last weekend the Tornados
welcomed the #16 team in the
nation, Carson-Newman, to
Memorial Stadium and played ‘
them real tight for the first half. “
With the score 14-3 B.C. gambled
on a 4th and goal from the two yard line,
but were not able to convert and Carson
Newman ran out the clock on the first half
In the second half the Eagles were able to

run off 20 unanswered points to win the
game 34-3. With the loss the Tornados fall
to 1-7 on the year (0-6 in the SAC)
Senior running back John Taylor has
continued to work his way back
for injury, rushed for 93 yards
on 11 carries on the day against
the Eagles. Junior linebacker
Stanley Jones recorded 18 tackles
over the afternoon and leads
the SAC with 84 tackles on the
season.
After the game with Catawba,
which can be heard on WSQL
1240 AM or on the internet
at www.wsqlradio.com, the
Tornados return home for their
final home game of the season
next week. The game, against
Newberry College, kicks off at
2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium and will be
Senior Day for the 7 seniors on the team.
