At the beginning of the school year.
International Student mentor Radosav Babic
decided to do something special for the
multitudes of students hailing from abroad here
at Brevard College.
“I was thinking about what I should do, and
I was thinking about how appreciative we
foreigners are of techno music, so I thought,
‘what better to do than to throw a party like we
have in Europe?’”
Babic’s brainchild produced a techno dance,
which will be held in the Reserve Dining Hall
of Myers Cafeteria this Saturday, Nov. 15 from
10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
All the essentials for a raving good time will
be provided, including glow sticks, disco balls,
and strobe lights. Spinning for the festivities
will be the event organizer himself, DJ Backo,
as well as the president of the Green Hall
Residence Hall Council, DJ Ben.
Babic expects the dance to be well attended.
“I am expecting around 100 people or so.
We should get all the international students,
so that is at least 35 or 40 people, and then I'm
pretty sure that some Americans will come too,”
Babic said.
Babic is looking forward to there being a
carefree feeling to the party, but has hired
sophomore Vance Crook as a bouncer in case
things get out of hand.
“I will throw people through a window. And it
will not be fun. Behave yourself,” Crook said.
Babic believes that his dance will not only be a
fun, nostalgic evening for international students,
but that it will also be a good cultural experience
for American students who decide to come.
“While rap and country and all that are good,
people should try to come out and experience
other types of music,” Babic said.
“This will be a unique chance for Americans
to see how us ‘foreigners’ party.”
