After a long off-season that included a
change in head coaches, and a lot of new
faces appearing in Boshamer Gymnasium
at practices, the Brevard College Women’s
Basketball team is ready to tip off their
season. Under the guidance of new Head
Coach ShaimonReid, the Tornados open up
this weekend in the Eagle Club Classic, in
Jefferson City, Teimessee.
In the tournament held at Carson-Newman
College, the Tornados will take on Lees-
McRae College and Lander University.
The Tornados return two of their top three
scorers in junior forward Samantha Wiim
(10 points per game) and sophomore
Amanda Whitaker (7.7 points per game.)
The rest of the team features a large
collection of young players with six
freshman on the roster, with another four
being sophomores. The only upperclassmen
on the team are juniors Wiim (Candler,
North Carolina) and classmate Millie
Wharton (Brisbane, Austraha).
While there are few very home games on
the schedule before the Christmas Break,
the Tornados will host Virginia Intermont
on November 25th and Converse College
on November 29th. Also on the early part
of the season is a conference matchup at
Tusculum College on December 6th. Once
