Page 8 THE LAST FRONTIER The Clarion \ November 21, 2008 American Heroes nvtnnHtnm ^ mpofis . Here at The Clarion, we understand that members of the Office of Campus Life probably did not major in marketing. Still, using Wes ley Snipes as the posterboy for an ad campign urging people to "de velop community" by becoming RA's next semester is a little bit out of touch, especially considering how Snipes' leadership and commu nity building skills helped him cheat his government out of millions of dollars and become banished from the land. Look out for further ad campaigns from the school, including the "Mark Cuban Ethics Committee," "Dick Cheney's Fun With Guns Retreat" and the "Ted Stevens SGA membership drive." mn or the time9 Usually The Clarion is able to make snarky remarks, mocking the unfortunate choice of words on a sign....but here, for once, we don't really have much to say. The sign says it all. It really is flawless family planning advice. The Clarion was unable to find out if this facility also advocates "entering on the top floor," or possibly "exiting before the planning session concludes." Ask The Clarion Q: What happened to all of those international flags that used to be in Myers Dining Hall? A: For those of you who are new to the campus, last year there were tlags from many of the nations of the globe hung from the ceiling of the caf last year As we have a large international population, this was kind of a neat feature. Unfortunately, however, it was one that was murdered by that homicidal maniac “progress” What happened, according to Director of Food Services John Crowe is that the flags “did not go with the design for the renovation of the dining room.” In an e-mail interview with The Clarion, Crowe said, “ [There was] a lot of discussion of removing them and we all decided it was time.” By “it was time,” we are assuming that he means “the theme of the college is no longer global citizenship, so we took them down.” That is kind of a downer because having the flags in the cafeteria gave it a pretty neat feel. The bright side, however, is that using the same rationale for taking down the flags, it can only be assumed that once sustainability is no longer the campus theme, trays will finally return to the cafeteria and members of the newspaper staff will no longer have to make three trips to the dish pit in order to throw away their trash.
