Page 2 The Clarion | January 23, 2009 News/Opinion — Barack Obama sworn in as President "I'm moving to Canada " and other campus reactions by Gretchen Allie Staff Writer Let’s face it, not everyone is going to like the US president. Every four years the country divides as we elect our new leader Everyone has their own opinion of what America needs in a president. As of Jan. 20, Barack Obama is the Presi dent of the United States. The inauguration is the day previous presidents have handed over their power to someone else. This year George W. Bush handed the power to Barack Obama, America’s first black president. I have heard many students say that they’re going to move to Canada now that Obama is president. To that I say, “Seri ously?” Obama is president now, and there is nothing you can do about it. As much as you’d like to think that Obama is going to ruin the United States in the next four years, it’s not true. All we’ve had to judge Obama on so far is Obama’08 his campaign. Because of this, I trust that Barack Obama is going to do what is best for our country, because he will be supporting and protect ing the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution defines what America is, and who we are as Americans. Yes, there are still things we will disagree on. But as long as we have the base, the Constitution, in common, we can get through anything together So, no one move to Canada yet, or any where else, and respect Obama as our new president. He is going to lead our country for the next four years, using the Constitu tion as his guidelines, and doing what he thinks is best for us. The presidential campaign, accompanied by pretty words and promises, has ended, and Obama has come out as the wiimer “Game time is over, now we see what Obama is really made of’, said Kasey Fagan, a BC Junior Bacl( in business The Brevard College Business Club (BC2) is starting up again with new ideas and projects for the semester Go by the Meyers Dining Hall in the Institute Room on Wednesday, January 28th between noon and 1:00 p.m. to be come involved and/or learn more about the Business Club.
