Page 8 THE LAST FRONTIER The Clarion \ January 23, 2009 American Hero Going into the inauguration of Barack Obama, left-wingers were up in arms over the inclusion of Prop 8 supporting Pastor Rick Warren in the ceremonies. And why shouldn't they be? Obama stands for Change, and Change in all-inclusive. So this week The Clarion salutes the Reverend Joseph Lowery for infuriating right wing pundits with his benediction, succesfully making sure that both sides of the political spectrum were equally offended by those praying at the ceremony.Rhymemaster Low ery, a.k.a. Reverend Suess, quoted a nursery rhyme to close his prayer that included his wish for a day "when white will embrace what's right. " Now this rhyme is archaic enough that the reference was lost on all of those outside of Lowery's age group, roughly 95% of America. The result of the quote going over the heads of most Americans? A slew of angry commentaries on most right wing news outlets accusing the Civil Rights hero of racism, ironically. For making sure that the inauguration did not pander to just one segmentof the population in its ecumenical offensiveness. Reverend Lowery is this week's American Hero.
