Page 8 THE LAST FRONTIER The Clarion | January 30, 2009 American Hero On page 47 of the Affluenza textbook assigned to seniors in all three sec tions of the BCE 411 class, there is a quote from Ted Haggard reading "Materialism is at odds with family values." The book was published in 2005, while Haggard was president of the National Association of Evan gelicals. Here at The Clarion, we think that if the authors of that text had a mulligan, they would most likely exclude that particular quote. If not because of the 2006 scandal in which a male prostitute came forward saying that he and Haggard used to romp in cheap hotels whilst smoking Meth, then definitely over this week's allegations that Haggard paid hush money to a member of his congregation to cover up the fact that Haggard sohcited drugs from the youth and, to put it in Biblical terms, Onanized in front of him. For being living proof that the term "family values" is rela- tive. The Clarion salutes you. Ted Haggard. BKlilVAKl) COLIJilGli; CIJLTIJKli; GRID Who is your celeb crush ? What is your favorite food? Roam through the aisles next door and you will find food from almost every culture on the planet. And, as you can see from the last line of the picture above, this includes cultures that are no longer thriving. This photo was taken of the self check-out screen at Ingles. We don't know who would buy this particular item, or what it would be used for (cleansing pores? protein supplement?) but we do give kudos to Ingles for having the brass to go out on a limb and stock something so cutting edge. On a side note, an extra special thank you to Ingles for giving Advantage Card savings on this particular item, making ancient emis sions affordable for all, as they should be!
