Again, students will have a chance to hear from professionals in each of these areas. During the second day of series, guest speakers will be BC alum Chris Reinhardt, a lawyer from Asheville, and Sue Curtis, a retired human resources manager The Senior Seminar Series is being or ganized by BC student Sean M. Students in Rock Chmbing 101 were led by instructor Jeremy Whitworth, owner of the Brevard Rock Gym, and teaching as sistant Josh Carter to popular local chmbing routes at Cedar Rock, Looking Glass Rock, and the boulder-field below the north side of Looking Glass Rock to practice their climbing and belay techniques. At Looking Glass, student’s top-rope climbed the first pitches on the Safari Jive, Sundial and Creatures routes. Student Dan Schreiman had this to say about the trip, “All the routes were sick-gnar. Everyone made it up Safari Jive, but Creatures really stumped us.” Students in the Introduction to Back packing class were led by instructor Ryan Donovan to Pisgah National Forest where they hiked part of the Daniel Ridge Loop to Farlow Gap and then practiced off-trail navigation on the hike down from Pilot Mountain. Student Clint Dewitt had this to say about the backpacking trip, “We focused a lot on navigation and the off-trail navigation part of the trip was pretty much amazing.” It seems that students in both classes re ally enjoyed the experiences they encoun tered and the challenges they faced during their weekend in the backcountry.
