Brevard College hires new
VP for admissions, financial aid
From BC News Service
A new member of the administration
will begin work at Brevard College in June,
fining a vacancy left when Joretta Nelson
left the college last year.
Mathew Cox will begin work June 1 as
Brevard’s new vice president for admis
sions and financial aid, BC president Drew
Van Horn aimounced April 27.
‘T am very excited to have Mathew join
Brevard College’s leadership team and
bring his experience and many skills to our
admissions and financial aid areas,” Van
Horn said. “He is a seasoned admissions
professional with more than 15 years of
experience in public and private higher
education. We are confident that he will
provide the vision and leadership we need
to increase our enrollment numbers.”
At Brevard College, Cox will be respon
sible for implementation and management
of enrollment, recruitment and financial
aid strategies. At the same time, he will
work closely with faculty, staff, students,
alumni and members of the College’s board
of trustees to enhance Brevard College’s
Mathew Cox
enrollment efforts.
‘T am honored
and excited about
the opportunity to
assume the vice
president for ad
missions and finan
cial aid position at
Brevard College,”
Cox said. “Having
transitioned almost
four years ago from
a public university to
a small private Methodist affihated liberal
arts college gave me great respect for the
educational process to which colleges like
Brevard dedicate themselves. The mission
and goals of the College and the opportu
nities, which 1 believe exist to meet those
goals, are what attracted me.”
Cox said he is looking forward to work
ing with the faculty, staff and administration
at Brevard College. “My visit to Brevard’s
campus and the community as well as the
conversations 1 had with members of the
staff, faculty and administration really felt
good,” he said.
