Dct. 2, 2009 I The Clarion m ■ News — MG to receive new clocks from SGA by Jen Nyman Contributor In MG you may have noticed time stands still... at least if you follow the clocks on the wall. Stu dents and teachers have learned not to look at them and get frastrated without a working clock. This timely issue has finally been ad dressed by two sophomore Senators, Harmony Blue and Jarred Fisher For their Senator project they took it upon themselves to find replacement clocks. They did some research and found it would cost around $450 to personalize 25 analog clocks with the BC logo. The proposal for the money was approved by the Senate during the last SGA meeting. As of now the order has not been placed. „ , K, When ask- photo courtesy J. Nyman ing Jarred Fisher why he chose this particular issue for his Senator project he responded, “We wanted new clocks to stop students from pulling out their cell phones during class to check the time. This helps focus more on class work. We also wanted them so the professors can accurately keep to their class schedules.” The only issues these new clocks would present are minor including: having to change the batteries and where to hang them in each room. Also, the issue of what to do with the old clocks was mentioned but this will not be resolved until the new ones get here. The next SGA meeting is an Open Forum and will be held Tuesday Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. in Mg 115. Come out and let your voice be heard. Archive Cont'd from page 1 died. Many years after the war, R.H. Zach ary, a local farmer, built what is now called Ross Hall upon the old hospital grounds. It is rumored that those who died and were kept in the cool, damp cellar have remained pris oners of Savaimah Hill, lurking about the halls and rooms of Ross Hall. Ross Hall functioned as a dorm up until 1995 when it was converted into an educational facility: the Center for Wilder ness Leadership and Experiential Education. However, the mysterious stories told by those who once lived there can still be heard. A local favorite seems to be the story of a girl who was mysteriously pushed down a flight of stairs, falhng to her death. Her untimely death resulted in rumors that her ghost is one of Ross Hall’s many spiritual inhabitants. Ross Hall even has its own love story. Legend has it that Ross Hall was also a hospital during WWI. A soldier, while being nursed back to health, fell in love with his nurse. However, one night a fire broke out in Ross Hall, trapping the soldiers beloved, and, as any man blinded by love, he went to rescue her from the flames. Unfortunately, the soldier and his dame died together in the blaze. It is said that to this day he wanders about in hopes of finding her Rumors, though they may be, have still made many a student choose to keep a save distance from the house on the hill. However, there are those few on campus that seem to have kept their wits about them in this matter Professor Clyde Carter seems to be more reluctant to buy into the ghost theories, “I beheve that many of the stories have been made up.” Mike Staton, who worked on his intern ship and temporarily lived in Ross Hall as a caretaker said, “I don’t believe in ghosts, so the stories I have heard are kind of hard to believe.” Whether or not ghosts and spirit are your things, it is certain that both Savaimah Hill and Ross Hall present certain mysteries. So as Afl Haflows Even draws nearer and the sunfafls from the sky earlier, beware of the shadows of afar - they might just be the ghosts of Savaimah Hfll. photo courtesy J.
