YES! So, what are you waiting for? Begin your career by volunteering today! If you missed attending the Volunteer Fair, not to worry! You can still sign up to be a volunteer at any time. Get valuable on-the-job experience that you can place on your resume! You can volunteer as little or a much of your time as you would like! Here’s a listing of some of the opportunities that are available from your local and national organizations that were at the Volunteer Fair: T.M.O.V.E : TEAM MOBILIZING OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT: This volunteer group is run by students and meets on campus. They host Make A Dilference Day, River Clean-Up, and more! They meet every Tuesday night at 7 p.m., AEG Room B. Contact Chris Dixon at dixoncm@brevard.edu for a schedule of events or to help plan an event. BREVARD RESCUE SQUAD: Meets every Tuesday night @ 7:30 p.m. on Fisher Road. Free training and certifications are avail able. It’s open to men and women who want to help save lives and put their skills (such as repelling) to the test! For more information, contacttedpeterson@brevard.rescue.com. OPERATION SOLDIER IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS: Help put together care packages that are sent to soldiers fighting overseas! Contact Tiffany Straw at strawth@brevard.edu for more information on how you can help brighten a soldier’s day! HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Help build a home (some tools provided and no experience necessary) or help out in their Thrift Store! Contact Don Stinchcomb at (828) 884-3464. Be sure to check out their website www.TransylvaniaHabitat.org to see how volunteers change people’s lives. PISGAH CENTER FOR WILDLIFE EDUCATION OF NC WILDLIFE RESOURCES COMMISSION: Looking for volunteers. They require a minimum of a 12 hour commitment per year Uniforms and training are provided at no cost to you. They are looking to fill these volunteer positions: Outdoor Facilities, Outreach/Exhibit Interpreter, Exhibit Gardens volunteer. Educational Assistant, Front Desk Greeter and Information volunteer. Raceway Monitor (knowledge of trout, fishing, and hatchery procedures a plus but will train), and Master Angler (fly fishing).
