It is a student run magazine published by BC students with the aid of a faculty advisor Any work that has creative flare will be selected and published near the end of the spring semester Pubhshed work in the past has a broad range of styles from nonfiction, fiction, and poetry writing to art and photography. Submissions will remain open until the end of the semester Students with any questions regarding the magazine should contact Jubal Tiner (faculty advisor) or Elana Baumann- Carbrey (editor) about submitting work. Any students that feel compelled to exhibit any current work in the near future are encouraged to attend the Chiaroscuro Literary Campfire on October 27th at 7:30 p.m. Students will be able to share their work with others around a bonfire while en joying delicious s’mores and hot chocolate. Maybe even bring a spooky story to set the Halloween mood and scare others. The Chiaroscuro is not only a great way to express your talent but looks great on a resume as well. Anyone that writes for pleasure or has an artistic talent should not let their talent go uimoticed, so motivate others to submit their work now. Student Government tackles school spirit by Dimitri McCloghry Staff Writer October 6ths SGA meeting was an open forum session that brought many students and senators together in efforts to raise sports awareness on campus. SGA Vice President, Brian Randall proposed many ideas for SGA members to collaborate and come up with new ideas regarding the popularity of athletic events. Members were asked to split up into different groups and come up with dif ferent ideas to raise school spirit. There were three main ideas that mem bers were asked to come up with. The first being “What would be the most ideal fan zone/ spirit community?” Secondly, “Come up with a catchphrase or nickname for this community.” Lastly, “What club or organi zation do you represent? What could your group do to help facilitate your fan zone or spirit community?” The catch phrases that were thrown around and showed the most promise for acceptance were “Torna do Alley” in reference to a place the stu dent sections at games could gather at, and “Storm Chasers” for the actual name of the students in the student section, akin to a “Cameron Crazies” type of atmosphere found on the campus of Duke University. An idea was proposed by Athletic Director Kim Pate about featuring a type of “Mid night Madness”, commonly done on the campus of major basketball schools to mark the beginning of the season, ft would most likely be done on a weekday, and different activities and events would be scheduled to run at the same time. Finally, members decided on the best ways to advertise upcoming events for stu dents including using available spaces in the cafeteria for students to see, and distributing different t-shirts in conjunction with each sport. One idea was quite hilarious, but in an effort to make this idea work, it’s best it not be mentioned. The next SGA meeting will take place October 13th, at 8:00 in MG. Hungry for Some Recognition?
