those things hanging in the
breezeway of the Adminis

other places around cam

Answer: The odd looking cards that
you may have noticed hanging from vari

was conducting air qual

Question 2: Where do I check my mid
term grades?
Answer: Webtwister Also, while you’re
on Webtwister, be sure to check and see
if you have ALL forms required for Bre

missing their emergency data information
and health insurance information. You can
download the forms from Webtwister or
pick the forms up from Campus Life, third
floor The forms need to be turned in as
soon as possible.
Interview with a senator: Melissa Sclimidt
by Dimitri McCloghry
Staff Writer
Dindtri McCloghry: When
did you first realize you
wanted to become involved
with Student Government
here at Brevard College?
Melissa Schmidt: When
I saw the opportunity to
become a Senator I realized
the changes I could make
and the impact I could have
on Brevard College and its
student body.
DM: What are your thoughts
on how sessions this year
have been running?
MS: Sessions in SGAhave included a wide
i:
variety of issues and topics which are all
confronted with open minds, and each is
explored in a thorough and timely fashion.
DM: Were you previously involved with an
SGA organization at a previous high school
or elsewhere?
MS: No, I never had an
interest in my former
schools to participate in
government. However, I
heard that the SGA here
had undergone a change
from previous years in
terms of formatting and
leadership, and I thought
it would be an ideal
experience to become a part
of that, and to provide an
example to my classmates.
DM: SGA senators are
required to participate in
at least one campus oriented project this
year. Any ideas so far in what you might be
>
.fu
interested in?
MS: I’m looking along the lines of a
community service project that involves
preserving the environment off and on
campus.
DM: Do you feel like the SGA body has an
established feel, or do you view it as a work
in progress?
MS: I feel like it’s in between: There are
a lot of new members in SGA, but we all
come together with the same initiative and
determination to serve the students of this
campus.
DM: What do you believe is your primary
goal as an SGA senator here at Brevard?
MS: To act as the voice of the freshmen
class, and ensure that positions of
leadership here are taken seriously, and
followed through with responsibility.
DM: What’s your idea of the perfect date?
MS: (laughs) My ideal date would simply
involve an outdoors activity with an
outgoing guy.

Dr. Gilbert be
gan at 7:30, and
for an hour, the au
dience was enter
tained with mine,
humorous antidotes
about Dr Gilbert’s
globetrotting, and
a reading from Dr
Gilbert’s new book
Trickster Jack. After the show. Dr Gilbert
autographed his new book and spoke with
students. I found Dr Gilbert’s show to be
wonderfully entertaining and delightfully
strange.
Dr Gilbert is a 1951 Brevard graduate
known worldwide for his story telhng. Dr
Gilbert is also a two time Fulbright award
recipient. He studied under Dr Richard
Chase, author of The Jack Tales and The
Grandfather Tales.
