Page 6 Miscellaneous The Clarion \ Nov. 13, 2009 Women's soccer wraps up season by Richard Bush Sports Editor The Brevard College Women’s Soccer team season came to an end after being defeated by the Carson Newman Eagles 5-0 in SAC tournament play. The tornados were led by “Sophomore Sensation” Bailey Varley, along with “Freshman Phenom” Allie Hovis, both of whom scored 7 goals this year, the Lady Tornados finished the season 6-12-1. With the Lady Tornados finishing the season tied in 8th place with Mars Hill, a coin toss was held in order to break the tie between the two schools to see who would receive the bid to advance to the SAC tournament. Living up to the high expectations of this years freshman class, Chantel Azevedo, Teresa Musick and Hannah Graham received a respectable amount of playing time Congratulations to Head Coach Shigeyoshi “Sugar” Shinohara and his assistant coach Caity “CB” Brown, for having a successful season and advancing the women soccer team to the SAC tournament for the first time in school history, making them the fifth team in school history to advance to any SAC tournament.
