Page 4 News The Clarion | Dec. 4, 2009 SGA concludes semester on a high note by Dimitri McCloghry Staff Writer Tuesday, December 1st marked the last time that SGA would meet for the first semester of the school year. Several proposals were passed including money for athletic t-shirts supporting the Brevard College basketball teams. The Debate Society was approved cash for their agendas as well as money forLSAT materials. Psych Club received money for clothing as well. There was one nomination for Executive Board Treasurer The Clocks project designed by one of our SGA senators is in full effect and should take place during this week. Clocks in MG haven’t been working for a long time, so new clocks have been ordered and should be in place before the student exam period. During the SGA meeting, it was aimounced that there are several Senate positions open for Spring semester, so if you’re interested in government and think you could make a difference please contact SGA Vice President Brian Randall. This is what Brian had to say in response to how he felt SGA handled the transition into the new format: “There really is no comparison. In previous years, SGA had to deal with a lot of junk from insufficient leadership from the administration in an effort the wilhngness to get things done.” This year, there has been a successful collaboration between faculty members and SGA to see our agendas through. Everyone did their part and stepped up to the plate. The change in format in regards to rules and regulations was more student friendly, and as such we experienced greater student turnout in our open forum sessions.” Another thing of note is that for the first time in recent memory, Brevard’s SGA has had quorum for every session this year “1 could literally count the number of times on my hand how many times we had quorum last year This year has been a vast improvement”, says SGA Senator Monica Sees. As anyone associated with government knows, without quomm (sufficient member attendance), nothing gets done. There will be no SGA session next week. The next one is scheduled to take place within the first couple of weeks during Spring Semester BC Bookstore Survey We’re looking to improve our store!
