Feb. 26, 2010 | The Clarion Arts & Life Page 7 BPO presents Viol infest at tlie Porter Center by Michael Eleazer Contributor With roots dating back to 1976, the Brevard Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) has been providing classical music to Transylvania County and the surrounding areas since its inception. On February 21st, they brought their “Violinfest” concert to the Porter Center featuring Conductor Donald Portnoy and guest soloist Angelia Cho. The show started with the orchestra performing Beethoven’s Overture to Prometheus (a change from his Overture to Fidelio, which was originally plaimed) and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. lin C minor The best part of the show (in my mind anyway) came when Angeha Cho joined the orchestra after intermission to play Dvorak’s violin Concerto in A Minor A unique part of this concert was that Cho was taught violin by Portnoy as a child and this was only her second time performing with him in quite a long time. Cho brought a commanding presence to the stage and played with an intense amount of feeling, highlighting the orchestra perfectly. Overall a great show, superior to previous shows that I’ve seen the BPO play by far Chef Boy-ar-Dave: Pork Chops with Mushroom Rice Average Cost of Meal: $10 - $12 Time of Preparation: 5 Minutes Cook Time: lHourat350° Difficulty: 3 Ingredients: '/2 Stick of Margarine- melted 1 Small Chopped Onion 1 Can of Beef Bouillon Soup 1 Can of Beef Consume Soup 1 Cup of Rice 1 Can or 1 Bunch of Mushrooms 4 Pork Chops Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350°.
