The housing lottery will take place on Thursday, April 8 from 6pm-9pm in the Dunham Auditorium. Once you have entered Dunham Lobby, you may check to see which rooms are still available. There will be floor plans posted on the walls in the lobby of Dunham. Staff wiU regularly update them by crossing out filled rooms. You may have a seat or browse stations until your lottery number is caUed. When your lottery number is called, you wiU go to the registration table and present your student id. Q. What is the housing lottery? A. The Housing Lottery is the process by which current students select their residence hall room assigimients for the next academic year in an order determined by their housing lottery number In order for the process to go smoothly, current students must prepare in advance by actively seeking roommate possibflities and coordinating with their potential roommate/suitemates. You must bring your student ID with you to the housing lottery. Q. What do I do if I want to Uve on campus next year? *this is new so pay attention!* A. To live off campus, students must meet the off campus housing exemptions or appeal to live off campus based on the foUowing criteria: 1) free from academic or disciphnary probation and 2) 21 years of age and 3) have a minimum of a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Athletes must also be approved by the Athletic department. All appeals for off-campus housing must be submitted by April 2nd at 4:30pm. More information on the NEW off- campus guidelines as well as the appeal form is available in the Division of Campus Life or at www.brevard.edu/ housing. Q. What if I do not attend the housing lottery night? A. Students who are unable to attend the lottery (due to class, work, internships, etc.) can have someone else (your proxy) select a room for them by completing a proxy form. When your lottery number is called, your proxy wfll represent you at the lottery by submitting the proxy form and selecting you room for you. Whatever room your proxy selects is the room that wfll be assigned to you and caimot be changed. Q. What if I do not participate in the housing lottery process? Can I still get a room later? A. You are strongly encouraged to participate in the lottery in order to have a space on campus. If you do not complete the Housing Contract at the Housing Lottery, you wifl likely lose the advantage of in getting a more desirable space. You can request to be placed on a waithst if you do not get the area you desired. Q. What if I would Uke a single room next year? A. There wifl be a limited number of single rooms next year Green Hafl will have guaranteed private rooms for those students interested. Q. What if I don’t Uke the rooms available when my number is called? A. If you do not pick a room in the lottery, you wfll be placed in a room by Campus Life staff, ft is highly recommended that you pick a room and then place yourself on a waitlist for your desired hall. If a space opens in your desired hall, staff wfll attempt to relocate you to that hall. Q. Roommate issues? A. Selecting a roommate to live with you: Students have the option to select or “pull in” a roommate of their choosing, even if their roommate has a lower lottery Page 3 liousing lottery number In order to be pufled in, the roommate(s) must be in attendance at the appropriate time or send a signed proxy form. If your roommate doesn’t return: If your roommate, for what ever reason, is removed from housing (withdrawal from the coflege, moves off campus, room change, etc.) you wifl be assigned a new roommate and/or moved to another room with a new roommate, f have no roommate to live with me when f sign up: Students who do not have a roommate should contact Campus Life. Campus Life wfll keep a list of students who do not have a roommate and/or are looking for a roommate. If a student who does not have a roommate selects a room during the lottery process, the next student of the same gender who requests that hall at the lottery and who also does not have a roommate wifl be assigned to that avaflable space.
