March 26, 2010 | The Clarion News Page 5 Letter to the editor: NC Gov. Perdue about the census The 2010 Census is more than just a survey. It’s absolutely critical to deciding how to fund our schools, where to build new hospitals, roads and businesses, and how North Carolinians are represented in all levels of government. In fact, for every North Carolinian who goes uncounted. North Carolina loses more than $1,500 each year. Every dollar and every Census form counts, especially in these tough times. In North Carolina we should receive our 2010 Census forms by March 22. It only takes about 10 minutes to complete the 10 questions, and your personal information will not be shared with any goverimient agency, business or individual. My husband. Bob Eaves, and 1 will fill out the Census form and return it, and Fm asking everyone across the state to do the same. It’s easy, it’s important and it’s secure. The future of every community in North Carolina depends on it. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE CENSUS COURTESY OF DEAN HOLLAND AND CAMPUS LIFE: As the census relates to college and uni versity students. The following informa tion is available: 1. 2010 Census forms will be mailed or delivered in March to students living in off-campus houses or apartments (non- residential). All students who live togeth er in one place off-campus are considered one household thus only one form needs to be completed and returned by mail. 2. Students who live in on-campus hous ing (residential students) will receive the 2010 Census form in April or May. Resi dential students should turn their forms in to the Campus Life Office. 3. Parents and guardians of students who do NOT live at home while attending college do NOT include their students on the family census form. These students will be counted in one of the scenarios mentioned above.
