showed up to compete.
The event was sponsored by Looking
Glass Outfitters, Pescado’s Burritos,
Bracken Mountain Bakery, Evolve Shoe
Company, Healthy Harvest Food Store,
Jordan Street, Celito Lindo’s, The Hub and
Backcountry Outdoors.
The competition began at 10 a.m. and
was comprised of beginner, intermediate
and advanced categories and concluded
in the evening with an awards ceremony
at 6 p.m.
Brevard College students David Lackey
and Joe Lovenshimer placed first and third
in the beginner class. Other students in
attendance were Keegan Caldwell, Travis
Grey, Erika Packard, Marc Newton, Sarah
Alexander, and Travis Wireback.
If this you’re interested in climbing, but
were unable to attend, take heart - there is
another chmbing competition coming up
on the 24th at Western Carolina University.
The competition has six slots still open to
anyone interested in competing.
The Chmbing Club also hopes to host
some climbing clinics this semester and
next fall. The clinics will focus on climbing
techniques and proper movement; for more
information on the upcoming competition
and other climbing related events, stay
tuned to your e-mail or speak to Jonathan
Hyde.
