He currently lives off campus, in Brevard. Megan Street: How do you feel about getting chosen to speak at graduation? Ian Townson:! feel that it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am deeply grateful for being chosen. MS: What do you plan to say? IT: Wouldn’t want to ruin a good speech by giving away the ideas, but, it will follow convention and hopefully serve to be uplifting and congratulatory. MS: How do you feel the audience will take what you say? IT: I hope that the audience is receptive and responsive. I would hate to be that guy who told bad jokes during a graduation speech. MS: How will they feel? SOCCER IT: As far as my fellow seniors go, I hope they feel as though I am speaking for them and about them. I do plan on making references and intend to leave no graduating student out. MS'/How are you going about researching what to say? IT: I have been listening to famous speeches to find the right flow and possible quotes. I have always enjoyed history and I think it is appropriate to keep a good quote at the ready. MS: What is your motivation? IT: My motivation will be that, for the most part, graduating seniors wiU be finished with their academic careers and therefore it will be a day of remembrance. My goal wfll be for aU the seniors to look back and remember a speech that not only congratulated them on their accomphshments but also inspired them to keep going in a quality direction. MS: What is your plan about speaking? IT: My plan is to approach this as a professional as it is a very serious day. However, I really want to have fun with it and make it special so hopefully it won’t be too dry.
