Students plan to dance for thirteen hours
By Katherine Parnell
Contributor
Dance Marathon is an on campus service
project Saturday, Feb. 12 starting at 8 p.m. and
will continue until Sunday at 9 a.m. You might
be asking yourself, what could we possibly do
for 13 hours?
We began planning back in August when many
of you were still settling in to the new semester
It started as just an event with the Institute of
Women in Leadership, but eventually teamed up
with the Center for Multi-Cultural and Service
Initiatives and Student Involvement.
Dance Marathon is not just dancing; it’s a
night of chaos that includes different style
dance lessons, capture the flag, speed dating,
inflatables, karaoke, and so much more. We
know that doing the same activity is boring.
which is why we have a night jam-packed to
include things that everyone will like.
The evening’s events will even be filmed and
put on The Style Network on the new television
program that is filmed right here in Brevard,
at the Wellspring Academy. The Students at
Wellspring Academy are training for this event
as part of their new healthy, active lifestyle.
Come meet these amazing teenagers, leam
from their stories, and help motivate them to
stay on track.
To make sure that the energy is high and
everything is fun, we have put together a team
of “awesomeness”: Meagan Crowson, Jarred
Fisher, Hughes McGlone, Katherine Parnell,
Lindsay Shaeffer, Karin Strickland, and Nina
Willis. Team members have all been supported,
mentored, and motivated by Michelle Harvey,
Megan Walters, and Jessica Blanford.
Since registration has passed and we don’t
want you to miss out, we wiii aiiow Wiid Card
Dancers to come in to the dance.
A Wild Card Dancer:
• Someone who can't stay the whole night
• Will pay $5 to enter
• Can enter at any point after 11 p.m.
• Can stay as long as they want or leave when
they want (but once you arrive, you won't
want to leave!)
• Can dance, enter contests and games, and
munch on food
• Can cheer on their friends who win random
raffle drawings, including the grand prize
during the Closing Ceremony because Wild
Card Dancers aren't eligible for these
• Can purchase a Dance Marathon shirt for $10,
while supplies last
BC Business Club hosts '80s dance party
By Jermichael Tanner

BC students danced the night away at the ’80s
costume dance party on Saturday.
It was held in the Reserve Dining Room in
Myers cafeteria, and was hosted by our own
business club. Admission was a mere $ 1, but it
was well worth the four quarters.
It was a good time not only because of the
number of students that were there, but because
“Students like to dress up,” said junior volleyball
player Sydney Yeomans. This opportunity is
greatly appreciated by the students because there
aren’t many opportunities to dress up.
“There were
students dancing all
throughout the night,”
Yeomans said. It was
an opportunity for
any student of any
background to come
out and have a good
time with students from
other backgrounds.
Hopefully more
opportunities for good
times will present
themselves throughout
the semester
Prof. Boerner, Sarah Carlos, Ally Davenport and Jacob Richardson at Saturday’s
dance party.
