Page 8 THE LAST FRONTIER The Clarion \ March 18,2011 ZZIZZT WE Si Rebecca Black has been taking the internet by storm this past week with her month-old hit, “Friday”. Blowing Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus off the charts, Rebecca black has become almost literally an overnight star. The brilliantly written, and beautifully performed song had even Dr. John Padgett dancing in his seat. We felt it necessary to pay the song homage in the Clarion, so that our readers may also revel in its excellence. The 13 year old from Orange County, Ca is no stranger to hardship as evidenced by the age old dilemma presented in the song. “Which seat can I take?” Black sings, probably alluding to the civil rights movement. Black overcomes the conundrum with a little help from her “friend to the right” and her producer and featured guest Patrice Wilson, a.k.a. Pato. Also establishing herself as a leader. Black is sure to keep her fellow eighth grade friends focused in situations where they might become so intoxicated or high on narcotics that they forget what day comes next. We at the Clarion simply cannot wait for a full length album from Black. We hope the next single can explain the perplexities of weekdays or maybe magnets... How do they work!? IT'S... American Hero This week's American Hero is quite unique, in that he's not American at all. Monday, March 14, a video was posted on Youtube that marked a historic day in the modern era of ruthless bullying. Casey Heynes, a meek, heavier than average, student at Chifley College finally had enough. Casey, has been teased throughout his life and Monday was not only the last straw, it was also the last time he will be teased. Casey stood up against his tormentor, Ritchard, who resembled a drunk Nascar fan trapped in a 15 year old's body. Details are still unclear on the matter; however, Ritchard limped away from the fight under his own strength, despite having a dislocated knee and an ego that will never fully heal. For standing up against oppression and for slamming Ritchard into the pavement harder than Gallagher slams mallets into watermelons, Casey Heynes is this week's (almost) American Hero.
