IWIL hosts online
auction for The Haven
Brevard College’s Institute for Women in
Leadership (IWIL) is hosting an online auction
in April in support of The Haven, a proposed
shelter for homeless families and individuals
in Transylvania County.
Auction items, which will include art, goods,
services and trips, will be available for purchase
from April 1-14 through Mission Fish, the
charitable arm of eBay. Anyone interested in
donating or bidding on auction items, may go to
www.missionfish.org and search for The Haven
of Transylvania County.
The funds raised through IWIL's online
auction will be used to help pay for the
construction and operation of The Haven.
The facility will assist homeless families and
individuals in crisis in Transylvania County
by providing safe, temporary refuge in a clean,
comfortable shelter
Plans call for The Haven, which will
accommodate 18 people, to be located on the
grounds of The Bread of Life, a local food
bank. The total cost of construction for The
Haven, a 1,400-square foot facility, will be
$234,800. Operations are estimated to cost
$90,500 per year
IWIL is a residential learning community at
Brevard College that encourages leadership
through mentoring and experiential leadership
projects.
For more information on the auction or to
donate an item, please contact IWIL member
Taylor Spivey at spiveytr@brevard.edu. For
