With graduation come some tangible 'perks'
Free lifelong transcripts, e-mail among benefits
In addition to the obvious benefit of hav
ing an education—and a diploma to prove
it—^being a graduate of Brevard College
has some additional perks.
One of the most tangible benefits, paid
for by your graduation application fee, is
that Brevard College graduates get free
transcripts for life.
As anyone who graduated from another
college or university can tell you, this perk
can be a real boon, since official transcripts
elsewhere typically run anywhere from $5
to $20—each time you need one.
Many employers and graduate or profes
sional schools require an official transcript
before they will hire or enroll new people,
so graduates can quickly regain the cost of
the graduation fee, especially if they change
jobs several times.
To request a transcript, visit the Regis
trar’s Web site on the Brevard College Web
site at www.brevard.edu to download and
print the form.
Another benefit for BC graduates is e-
mailfor life—^your name@alumni.brevard.
edu. This perk, which is managed by the
BC Alumni Association, allows graduates
to maintain a single E-mail address that will
not change, regardless of whether you move
or change your Internet Service Provider
Since the account is based on Google
Gmail, graduates who sign up for an
alumni.brevard.edu E-mail account will
get more than 7 GB of storage space and
an e-mail account accessible anywhere you
have an Internet coimection.
Even if you are a current student, you
must ask for a BC e-mail for life account
by sending an e-mail to Rebecca Gill at
gillra@brevard.edu that includes your first
name; maiden name; last name; class year;
current city and state; and current e-mail
address. More details are available on the
Alumni Office Web site, also available on
www.brevard. edu.
A final perk available to graduates is a
lifetime subscription to Mountain Cur
rents, the newsletter for BC alumni that
keeps alumni informed about recent devel
opments at the college and about the latest
news from your fellow BC alumni.
The best benefit of all remains, of course,
your education and the friendships you
forged while at BC, but these perks are still
nice rewards for choosing Brevard.
