Free WIFI vs.. new schoof Student faculty basketball game By Joshua Smith staff Writer Headbands, short sliorts, long socks, oil my! The Brevard College faculty was able to pull off the basketball victory over the Brevard College students. For the second year in a row the faculty triumphed over the students. However, this 70-62 victory was not an easy feat. The game immediately started off full of turnovers for both teams. Both teams played with high speed and high intensity. Both teams fought hard throughout the game. Since a lot of students participated, teams of 5 played for 5 minute intervals. Even with the constant rotation, the players had great attitudes and supported each other Andrew Schauss, a Brevard Basketball player and the Brevard Students coach said, “The game was a lot closer than I expected. The faculty had a lot of talent, but our students played hard and made it very close. The girls on our team played very hard and made it tough for the faculty to get baskets.” The only controversial part of Wednesday night’s game, was officiating from the referees. Coach schauss felt that referees Holli and Anna gave the game to the faculty. Coach Michael Gist of the Brevard students was furious how player Donald Hudson of the faculty ran over the female players throughout the game. Coach Shauss also added, “A few more calls go our way, and we win the game.” Most importantly this game was to have fun. “I liked the game. It was fun. I liked how the commentator got the fans involved.” Student fan George Sinch said. The fun was sparked with the game commentator Jermichael Tanner He was the game’s hype man. Jermichael entertained the fans with jokes and screams as the game rolled on. Also music was played throughout the game for fans to enjoy. Even during halftime Brevard football players Joshua Smith and Chris Jones had a dance competition at half court.
